A Review of VibeReview’s Japanese Silk Love Rope

By Sascha On September 29th, 2008

As a Cocktease in real life, I love to tie men up and tease them by getting them very hard and needy, wanting oh so badly to cum. . And then of course deny them, making them beg.
But I do have a confession to make. Before I was a Mistress and a Cocktease, I was a submissive. And I loved being tied up and edged myself, sometimes with a sex toy like the  Hitachi Magic Wand – probably why I enjoy the  exquisitely sweet torture I give my little pets so much.
I am especially fond of soft, pleasant textures. I love being tied up with high-count Egyptian cotton or sateen sheets, velvet rope and silky scarves.

Japanese Silk Rope

Japanese Silk Love Rope

The Japanese Silk Love Rope by VibeReview is silky-soft to my baby-sensitive skin. I love its sensual texture, yet it has as lot of tensile strength, and is quite unyielding when I struggle against it. And I do :)
The ends are bound, and so they don’t fray.
Also, there is this cute little booklet that they send with the rope, which gives ideas on how to tie a submissive up, such as not binding bilaterally – for example, tying only one hand and foot on opposite sides. This can be quite unnerving to the submissive psychologically, without causing any real pain.
There are some good safety tips in  this booklet as well. A good Top is always safety conscious. While I believe that it should not be obligatory for written precautions to come with a BDSM toy - for example, a Mistress should use some common sense and not tie a sub up so tightly his circulation is cut off - it doesn’t hurt for safety tips to be inserted.
Unlike traditional rope for shibari, which (I have been told by Masters much more knowledgeable than I) is anywhere from 7 to 10 meters long, or approximately 21 to 30 feet,  the  Japanese Silk Love Rope is only 3 meters, or less than 10 feet long. This is not long enough to do the intricate rigging that is so beautiful in shibari. However, the texture of the Japanese Silk Love Rope is more pleasing to my baby-sensitive skin than that of typical shibari rope, which is usually softened hemp or jute.
If you are simply into rope bondage and don’t care about shibari, I would highly recommend the Japanese Silk Love Rope, perhaps along with the  Japanese Restraint Kit as a supplement.  The Japanese Restraint Kit comes with a 20” rope and easy-to-use handcuffs, a blindfold, and a Japanese bondage guide.
Because of its pleasing texture and cute little guide, I give the Japanese Silk Love Rope 4 stars. I would give it 5 stars, but I do think it wouldn’t hurt to make the rope longer, or at least to put out a longer version.
